Autism and ADHD Assessments

Autism

Autism is a developmental condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts with others, and experiences the world.

My ASD assessments are tailored towards populations that traditional assessments might miss, such as LGBTQ folks, women, or high masking individuals.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects both children and adults. It is characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that can interfere with daily functioning and development.

My ADHD assessments are tailored towards populations that traditional assessment might miss, such as LGBTQ folks, women, or high masking individuals.

Assessment FAQs

  • Assessments for ASD and ADHD begin with a complimentary phone consultation to speak more about your concerns, needs, and goals.

If we decide to proceed, you can expect a series of self-report empirically validated questionnaires designed to screen for Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorders, PTSD, alexithymia, executive functioning, ASD, and ADHD, as well as medical conditions that have a high prevalence in the ASD and ADHD communities. An in-depth developmental history interview will also take place.

Afterwards, we will follow up on the questionnaire results and move into structured interviews based on the diagnostic criteria. I use the MIGDAS 2 and the DIVA 5 for detecting ASD and ADHD.

An optional step is contact with loved ones who may provide additional information.

Finally, we will go over any findings and a report can be written if desired.

  • The self knowledge of having language to describe your experience is empowering. We can continue working on finding the necessary support for your neurodivergence, as well as working through any challenges that can come with neurodivergence.

Additionally, a diagnosis can be used to get accommodations at school or work. It is important to check the accommodation requirements with the institution with which you seek accommodations, to ensure we can meet their criteria.

Additionally, diagnosis may assist in pursuing medication with an appropriate prescriber or other medical provider.

  • There is not one assessment that can be given to detect the presence of these conditions. Rather, a skilled clinician can administer a series of tests designed to rule out and detect the presence of symptoms in order to make an informed conclusion. Hearing about your concerns, symptoms, and history is also essential in this process. For those under age 18, caregiver involvement is required.

  • Each person has different needs so assessment times may vary. An estimated timeline is:

    Complimentary consultation: 20 minutes

Developmental and family history: 1 session

Self report questionnaires: Several hours (no charge, at your own pace, at home)

    Structured ASD interview: 1-3 sessions

    Structured ADHD interview: 1-3 sessions

Optional interviews with loved ones: 1 session

    Results discussion: 1 session

    Options report review: 1 session

  • As the assessment duration and length can vary per person, I offer my assessments at an hourly rate of $190. Please see the FAQ “How long does the assessment take"?” for a more specific hourly breakdown.

An optional report write up is offered at a flat fee of $300.
